Location
Mossel Bay is very conveniently located halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It is located about 400km from both cities and in the most beautiful part of South Africa, commonly known as, The Garden Route. It is the ideal town to stop over on your trip from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and will amaze you in the quality activities and hospitality it has to offer, not to mention that amazing scenic beauty, great golf courses and in season, whales come to the bay to breed.

When walking the St. Blaize Trail, you will wedged between the most beautiful fynbos on one side and high cliffs plunging in to the Indian ocean on the other side. POWER VAN
Embark in George at the railway museum and travel with the Power Van on the Outeniqua railroad to the top of the mountain. This is a breathtaking experience. The sporting people can do the return journey on mountain bikes via the old Montagu Pass. Duration three hours. On your return visit the railway museum and explore George.

OUDTSHOORN
Visit the Cango Caves, an Ostrich Farm and the Crocodile & Cheetah Farm and dive with the crocodiles. Only 1hrs drive from Mossel Bay along the Robinson Pass (R328), return via the Outeniqua Pass (N12) to Mossel Bay for a well deserved rest.

SEE THE GREAT KAROO, LITTLE KAROO AND RETURN TO THE GARDEN ROUTE IN ONE DAY Drive from Mossel Bay on the R328 via the Robinson Pass to Oudtshoorn and experience the Little Karoo. Go to Prince Alfred via Schoemanspoort, the Cango Caves and the magnificent Swartberg Pass. Travel east on the R407 next to the Swartberg Mountains through the Great Karoo to Klaarstroom. From there experience the breath taking views through Meirings Poort (N12) back to Oudtshoorn.From Oudtshoorn take the N12 to Blanco via the Outeniqua Pass and return to Mossel Bay on the N2 or the R102. Have an early breakfast in the Guesthouse, a light lunch at Prince Alfred and relax for dinner at one of our great restaurants. |
KNYSNA
Travel to George on the R102, take the scenic old Knysna road (also known as the seven passes road) to Knysna. Explore Knysna and the surrounding indigenous forests. Return to Mossel Bay on the N2.
EXPLORE WILDERNESS
Take the R102 from Mossel Bay to George and then follow the scenic old George Knysna road (also called the seven passes road) to Wilderness. Spend the day exploring The Lakes District at Wilderness and return to Mossel Bay on the N2 highway.

SHIPWRECKS
Records are kept of about 42 ships that sunk in the waters around Mossel Bay since 1734. These varied in size from approximately 200 tons to over 5000 tons, the letter being the Sabor, which was torpedoed in the Second World War by a U-boat. The wrecks include schoomers, brigs, barques and yachts, many of them wooded. For more information visit the Dias Museum.
